Celebrating the positive of the students improves the behavior in the classroom and mental health

MADRID (EUROPA PRESS)Teachers who celebrate the positive aspects of their students manage to improve the behavior in the classroom and the mental health of the children, according to a study carried out by scientists from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Exeter (United Kingdom).
And that has been published in the ‘Psychological Medicine’.

The experts analyzed the success of a training program called ‘Incredible Years Teacher Classroom Management Program’, whose basic principles include building a strong social relationship between teachers and children, and ignoring the low-level misbehavior that often disrupts the classroom .

Likewise, teachers are encouraged to focus on the construction of relationships, the appropriate motivation for age, the proactive management of unwanted behaviors and the recognition of good behavior.

«Our findings suggest that this training improves the mental health of all children, but it is particularly exciting to see the greatest benefit for children who initially had difficulties.» These effects may be greater if the training is offered to all teachers and teaching assistants. «the researchers said.
